Phil Hellmuth has already made several big entrances to the WSOP Main Event. So far, Phil has been Julius Caesar, an army general with sexy recruits, and a NASCAR driver. So what did Hellmuth do to top all of that off? He came as a boxer this year along with world-famous boxing announcer Bruce Buffer.
Basically, the entrance opened with several scantily-clad girls dancing around in butt huggers. Sure it was great watching them dance for the first few minutes, but then it just got awkward. After the girls finally finished their “dance” routine, Bruce Buffer came out on the moving stage and introduced Hellmuth. After all of the preliminary activities were over with, Hellmuth stepped out onto the stage in a boxing robe (some people said MMA, but they have no idea what they’re talking about) thus completing the whole entrance.
Hellmuth is obviously looking to make these grand entrances an annual thing as evidenced by yet another over-the-top event to mark his arrival. Not everyone is totally thrilled about the entrances as Doyle Brunson sent a Twitter post saying, “’I’m glad I’m not playing today so I won’t see Hellmuth make a fool out of himself with his entrance. I can’t help thinking it’s terrible!”
This Tweet hurt Hellmuth’s feelings since he said, “I love Doyle Brunson. We go out drinking sometimes…..I called him up this morning. I said, ‘C’mon Doyle, you and I, we’re not the kind of people that make fun of other people.’ It was just a little strong. He said, ‘Alright, you’re right.’”
Perhaps the funniest thing in all of this is that Phil got that offended over a little jab at his stupid entrance. Maybe the whole Poker Brat thing isn’t an act after all.
