The middle stage of a sit and go definitely isn’t the most sexy part of these tournaments. After all, the middle part doesn’t feature any heroes trying to double up with K-J like in the beginning stages, and the prize pool isn’t awarded during the middle stages either. Despite not being the most exciting part of a SNG, the middle stages are still crucial to your success.

And if you’re to be successful in the middle stages of a SNG, one thing you have to do is avoid limping into pots. If you are going to play a hand, then you need to raise the pot. The reason being is that the blinds become a factor at this point in a sit and go so you can’t afford to limp into pots with low drawing hands. Those who keep limping in will be wasting chips when they get raised by other players.

You should also be playing as aggressively as possible when you are in late position. In the beginning stages, you have time to sit back and play selectively from any position; but in the middle part of a SNG, you don’t have the luxury of wasting your chances in late position. This being said, you should be trying to steal blinds and small pots when the opportunity arises. Just keep in mind that you don’t need to raise with 9-4 though.

One last thought is that you should be more aggressive from middle position too. This means you can raise with connectors like K-Q in middle position provided there are no extremely aggressive players behind you. The key at this point of the game is to steal as many chips as possible so don’t be afraid to raise.
