2009 was definitely not Tom Dwan’s year. He was consistently beaten by Full Tilt Poker’s best pros, and he lost millions of dollars to people like Patrik Antonius. Well Dwan must have learned some kind of lesson after losing these millions since he’s been red hot in 2010. Before last night, Dwan had already earned over $5.5 milion in profit on the year. And he added another $1.2 million last night.
Dwan’s $1.2 million night started off with a session against Swedish player “Odonkor1”. And it turned out to be a very good session since “durrrr” took $225,000 off of Odonkor1. After this session, Dwan logged off for a little while before getting back on to play Phil Ivey. This would be a very short go-around since Ivey logged off after 11 hands; Dwan earned $30,000 in the session.
Of course this was nothing compared to what was ahead in a heads-up matchup against Ilari “Zigmund” Sahamies. Facing off against his old rival in $500/$1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha games, Dwan was able to win an outstanding $945,000 in profit. During this session, the duo played for several giant pots – including three that were worth over $400,000. One of the pots was $558,000, which is one of the largest of the year!
After raking in $1.2 million last night, Dwan is up $6.7 million on the year. It will be really interesting to see just how much Dwan is able to earn by the end of 2010 since he already has this amount by April. If he’s lucky, maybe he will keep up this streak and be able to make over $9 million like Patrick Antonius did last year. Of course, it’s possible that he will surpass this number, but there are always ups and downs in poker so we’ll see.
